Job Title: Company Safety ManagerJob DescriptionCape Fox, subsidiary Mountain Point is seeking a qualified Corporate Safety Manager. This candidate position will develop and implement health and safety plans, enforce policies, assess risk, and ensure compliance with legal guidelines for the Mountain Point construction company. Work will be performed primarily within the Southern United States (Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, North Dakota, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, Florida). General construction work will include: building renovations and repair; new construction; pre-construction services, IT and physical security upgrades; electrical, plumbing and HVAC; and demolition. Civil and utility work will focus on specific electrical and underground water infrastructure (e.g., potable water, storm, sewer) and all associated earth moving services.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesDuties include:

  • Review and update company environmental, health and safety procedures. Ensure company safety and quality standards are met in project execution.
  • Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to OSHA guidelines and EM385-1-1.
  • Promote Company safety policies and rules. Assure compliance with Department of Defense and OSHA laws and regulations. Conduct required employee safety training.
  • Establish and continually review safety programs and policies. Revise and develop new policies as required.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop corrective actions.
  • Serve as a Company contact with the insurance carrier. Visit job sites and Company locations with the loss control representative.
  • Manage and maintain workers compensation (WC) claims with insurance company and individuals filing WC claims.
  • Provide toolbox talks to crews and demonstrate the proper way of giving the talks.
  • Provide training and education to employees on environmental, health and safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Update MSDS and first-aid kits.
  • Maintain Company safety recognition program.
  • Comply with all Company policies, rules, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement occupational health and safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, training sessions, and other relevant data.Primary work will be supporting construction efforts on U.S. Government contracts at military installations. Safety managers typically work full-time in a variety of settings, including offices, facilities, or construction sites. Travel to facilitate project kick-off with safety officers and monthly audits may be required. The employee can be exposed to dangerous or stressful situations and must use safety equipment to minimize the risk of illness or injury.Employee must be able to work with minimal supervision, be flexible, cooperative and take initiative; work well under pressure, plan, be resourceful, and well organized; maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers and be polite and professional with the general public; maintain a professional approach towards work and a positive attitude and philosophy consistent with Company standards.Travel Requirements50 - 75%Job RequirementsEducation and/or ExperienceMinimum of 10 years of experience in the construction safety and health industry (preferably heavy civil).
    • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or another similar field, such as chemistry, biology or engineering, or construction management.
    • Knowledgeable with the provisions of EM 385-1-1 "Corps of Engineers Safety and Occupational Health Requirements Manual, dated March 2024".
    • Bilingual - English and Spanish (desired).Certifications and training should include:Candidate shall have or obtain the following certifications/courses within 90 days of employment:
      • Certified Safety Professional (desired).
      • OSHA Fall Protection Training.
      • 10-Hour or 30-Hour OSHA Construction Outreach Training Program (COTP).
      • FIRST AID/CPR certification.
      • USACE, Construction Quality Management for Contractors (desired).Qualifications and Requirements
        • Must be able to effectively manage subordinate managers and professionals.
        • Proven skills to identify onsite construction hazards and recommend/implement elimination, mitigation or controls.
        • Proven knowledge of construction equipment, methods, and processes and how to incorporate best safe practices in our daily activities.
        • Ability to complete special tasks and projects with limited direction and oversight.
        • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate with others at all levels of the organization.
        • Experience conducting safety training and the ability to connect with frontline employees.
        • Ability to travel to company work sites, as needed.
        • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
        • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.Physical Requirements
          • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
          • Sit or stand throughout a regular workday.
          • Able to work on computer for long periods.This position requires the ability to maneuver around work sites, see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and clients. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining the physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking, climbing, or standing for prolonged periods of time; frequent opportunity to move about and to work outside the office environment for extended periods involving exposure to the elements with weather that will include extreme heat, cold, wind, rain or other inclement weather, walking over rough and uneven surfaces, and routine lifting of up to 25 pounds. If required, must properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times including but not limited to hard hats, steel-toed boots, eye protection, respiratory protection, and hearing protection. Must maintain a constant state of mental alertness at all times. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Safety
            • Meet OSHA training requirements specific to project work and ensure project team employees meet the requirements.
            • Ensures adherence to all company safety rules and SOPs in area of responsibility.
            • Rectifies unsafe actions and/or conditions immediately.
