Responsibilities Under the direction of the Food Services Manager and Kitchen Supervisor, the Demo/Working Chef will work with the Culinary Team to ensure product quality, consistency, and portion control. Must be knowledgeable of and assist in all menu planning, preparation, cooking, cooling, presentation, rotation, labeling and packaging of all food items for cafe, bistro and patient room service, ensuring quality, accuracy, Hospital and Health Department Regulatory rule compliance. The Demo/Working Chef will also assist the Cardiac Rehab Team with presenting and educating cardiac rehab patients on healthy food preparation. Will perform all work in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Oklahoma Heart Hospital. Demonstration Cooking Duties: Works directly with Cardiac Rehab to facilitate patient education Conducts cooking demonstration classes to Cardiac Rehab inpatient/Outpatients Other duties assigned as program develops Prepares, organizes and ensures all catering orders are made, set up and cleared Organizes all catered orders utlizing Outlook and tracking forms for reporting to department manager Communicates to all areas involved the needs of catering in a timely and organized fashion Involves both supervisors and department manager when planning caterin Ensures customer satisfaction and promoting catering department Requests feedback from customers and addresses any issues, communicates findings Is proactive in meeting catering customer needs Prepares food items as assigned for patients and guest, cafeteria, physicians' dining room, and catering Prepares a variety of foods using proper cooking methods Follows standardized recipes and adjusts recipes for number of servings Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Documentation of Culinary Associates Degree preferred. Licensure/Certification: Formalized food safety and training preferred. Experience: Two (2) to five (5) years of related experience with high volume cooking line preparation in a full service establishment. One (1) to two (2) years of experience training and/or teaching preferred. Vegetarian and/or vegan experience preferred. Working Knowledge: Ability to understand and follow directions, interpret recipes, use fractions to modify proportions and mix, measure and prepare ingredients. Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Ability to safely operate a variety of commercial food service equipment and tools.
