Job Title: Registered Nurse - Surgical Specialty Job Specialty: Surgical/Transplant Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Medical/Surgical Unit Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 1 year of acute care surgical floor experience required. ENT and/or Transplant experience preferred. License: Current RN License under a Multistate Compact License or State Board of Nursing approval. Certifications: Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association. Must-Have: - Acute care surgical floor experience - Experience with Med Surg and post-operative patients Job Description: - Provide nursing care under general supervision to a diverse patient population with health issues ranging from simple to complex. - Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients and document their responses to interventions and treatments. - Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. - Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, and intervene as necessary. - Administer medication, initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions, and manage blood products. - Deliver competent care to patients, interact with family and patients regarding care plans, and inform them about hospital procedures. - Make referrals concerning patient care needs to appropriate personnel and delegate tasks to support staff. - Perform other duties as assigned. Skills Required: - Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures. - Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services. - Ability to maintain good working relationships and respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. - Good verbal and written communication skills. - Proficient in basic computer skills. Education Required: - Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Education Preferred: - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from a board-approved program.
