people. - -Reporting to the Toro EHS Sr. Director with dotted line
relationship to the Managing Director of the region, the
Environmental, Health, & Safety Regional Manager will drive
implementation of the Toro Safety Management System across
manufacturing sites within the region. The position will assure
full compliance with all federal, state, local, and corporate EHS
requirements while building a culture of EHS excellence. - The
Regional EHS Sr. Manager must be highly skilled in interpreting and
complying with regulations that apply across geographical regions,
exhibit excellent leadership skills, and be able to work across
functional boundaries to achieve a zero incident culture. -What
Will You Do?--- -In order to grow and build a successful career
with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:--- -
- Engage leadership across the region to drive safety, health,
and environmental excellence with the goal of a zero incident
culture.
- Align directly with Toro EHS Sr. Director to develop,
implement, and drive consistency in execution of the Toro Safety
Management System, corporate policies, procedures, and required EHS
programs to maintain compliance and drive continued
improvement.
- Lead the establishment of effective hazard identification,
assessment, and control measures and ensure effective
implementation by the team.
- Ensure full compliance with all Federal, State, Local, and
Corporate EHS requirements including maintenance of required
records.
- Provide expert oversight of mandated EHS programs including,
but not limited to: hearing conservation, safety eyewear program,
bloodborne pathogens, respiratory protection, machine guarding,
hazard communications, powered industrial vehicles, welding, Clean
Air Act, RCRA, Storm Water, SARA 313, community right-to-know, and
personal protective equipment.
- Ensure all training and record keeping & reporting, including
online reporting of EHS and workers' compensation related
requirements is timely and accurate.
- Ensure the implementation of Job Safety Analysis throughout the
region to support continuous improvement through thoughtful
comprehensive hazard identification and risk mitigation.
- Establish and monitor annual EHS goals based on long term
objectives.
- Ensure maintenance of the safety scorecard consistent with Toro
requirements for each location supporting continuous improvement of
safety systems including: safety training, BBS observations,
corrective action completion, compliance inspections, hazard
identification, recordable incidents, lost-time incidents, incident
rates, hours worked, work compensation incurred costs, and so
on.
- Oversee the auditing of facilities within the region to ensure
compliance with established regulations and company
requirements.
- Ensure each location maintains a corrective action log to
address concerns from employees, audits, inspections, etc.
- Work with cross functional teams to develop and implement
incident investigation protocols utilizing systematic root cause
analysis methods
- Support site management during incident investigations, as
required, and implement effective countermeasures as
warranted.
- Establish collaborative working relationships with internal
customers, insurance providers, vendors, consultants, and
regulatory agencies
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance and operations
functions on proper machine guarding implementation and usage.
- Align with process engineering teams on the design and
development of operational processes
- Review capital projects and products obtained through
suppliers/vendors to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
and organizational requirements
- Develop, promote, and assist with administration of "wellness"
initiatives and programs
- Mentor and develop EHS team members to help them attain their
career progression goals through performance management and goal
development and accountability for the individual and teamNote: The

------ -What Do You Need?--- -To be
considered for this role, an individual should meet the following
minimal requirements:--- -
- Bachelor's degree in EHS Sciences, Engineering, Engineering
Technology, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
- Minimum 10 years of experience in EHS, in progressively
increasing roles of responsibility. - At least 3 years of
experience managing other EHS staff, including managers who manage
others. - -
- One or more applicable certificates required (i.e. CSP, CIH,
CHMM, PE, OHST).
- Strong manufacturing business acumen with familiarity of
processes applicable to sites within position scope
- Demonstrated history of ability to position safety as an
integrated part of daily business function
- Excellent communication skills, both formal and informal, at
all levels of the organization
- Strong analytical, negotiating, presentation and facilitation
skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of developing and delivering hands on
EHS training
- Ability to develop and implement comprehensive EHS incident
prevention programs
- Experience using lean methodology
- Strong computer skills
- Professional who can work efficiently and effectively as part
of a team or independently with minimal supervision.
- Change leader who can coach organizational leaders at all
levels on how to effectively deploy EHS strategies.
- Skilled project manager able to conceive, develop, and execute
EHS related projects and initiatives.
- Visionary who can anticipate EHS needs, develop viable
solution(s), and take appropriate action to achieve operational
excellence with long term business needs and goals in mind.
- Critical thinker who is able to interpret changing regulations
and clearly articulate the impact of those changes to the
organization.
- Insatiable professional curiosity, continually looking for new
ideas, methods, and best practices to make Toro's EHS programming
best in class.
- Experienced with medical case-management, workers compensation,
and effective implementation of return-to-work programsJOB
DIMENSIONS:
- Position is located at a facility within the Region and
supervises all EHS staff within the region.
- Travel requirements of approximately 50%
- Position is on first shift, but with the occasional requirement
to work alternate shifts as needed for training, investigation,
culture development, etc
- Office environment with frequent work taking place on the
factory floor, warehouse, and outside facilities
- Must have reliable means of transportation
- Rapidly changing workloads and priorities with frequent
deadlines
- Work with confidential information
- Requires walking, bending, kneeling and standing for extended
periods of time. -
- Periodically carries equipment or tools weighing up to 25
lbs.
